Fishing tackle is quite a generic word. It caters to the entire segment of instruments and technology used in the process of fishing and angling. So almost each and every instrument like line, fly, and rods used fall into this category.

Hooks
It is the interfacing device used to catch fish and naturally, comes in many shapes and sizes. They have been prevalent from the time immemorial to catch hold of fish. It is wonderful to mention the fact that fishing hooks are acknowledged as one the greatest tools ever used and discovered by man, by a leading research agency.
Single hooks have single eye, shank and point while double hooks have double shanks and points, but single eye. Salmon flies are caught by these hooks preferably. For bait fishing, sharp, Carlisle, carp hooks are employed.
Lures
Lure is the object, which is applied at the end of the fishing line and does movement for the like of fish prey. They are equipped with the hooks, according to their category. Lures are given motion by the line reels and they are like sweeping, jigging, pulling etc. from all the generic ones, fly differs in the sense that they tend to float on the surface and catch prey.
Some lures are trout worms; bass worms, crank bait, surface lures etc, and their applications are obvious from their nomenclature. Normally the whirling effect of the luring is disadvantageous for trout and salmon fishing.
Sinker
A sinker is typically a weighted substance used to force the bait or lure so that its speed can be presided by required application. They are normally built up of lead or brass.
Fishing line
It is the length of cord used for fishing. So obviously they vary as per their length, weight, materials and proper breaking strength. The dimensions are configured for the concerned nature of fishing, as fishes vary in shape, size and weight. The process with which fish is caught with help of fishing line is often called as angling. For the salmon and trout fish, heavy lines or sinkers are used.
Rods
The main length of fishing tackles is rod. Some of their types are spin casting, spy rod, sea rod, fly rod, telescopic rods etc. they vary according to their power, point of action, weight and lure weight etc.
Reels
It is the main substance used for releasing and playing process of the fishing. They are applied in accordance to the dimension of the fishing rod.
Nets
It is the substance which is used to capture the fish, on a larger scale. Thin threads are aesthetically knotted and constructed as per the requirement of fishing.
Trawls
It is the process of fishing, which caters to the pulling process through sea or river, from behind the boat.
