Fishing process in general caters to various technologies and processes adopted for catching from various sources of water like lakes, sea or rivers. For different categories of fish, there are different techniques all and sundry.
We concern ourselves with fly fishing or trout fishing process in this topic of discussion, popular one to catch trout and salmon fishes. It is one of the most orthodox yet tested methods though not so relevant in today’s age of greater technical advancements.
Generic applications
This particular type of angling method not only yields trout or salmons, it also helps to catch various other categories of fishes like shook, bon fish, red fish, chub etc quite unintentionally. This is the main reason why this method is still highly prevalent today.
Process of angling
The flies used for trout fishing generally employ fly line and fly rod. The fly line is normally built up of heavy plastic material and the fly varies as per the requirement by the anglers. The basic difference in trout fishing process is that line is cast in this case, rather than the fly.
Trout techniques
The techniques involved vary and are outlined below.
- Cold water trout fishing: Trout fish are often found in muddy, slippery, and coastal areas of river or sea. So the anglers use waders which provide great grip on the movement and provide greater insulation against cold and sharp substances.
- Dry trout fishing: Here floatable lines and flies are used. A special tapered lead is placed in between the fly and line. It is made up of poly monofilament line. The basic idea worth mentioning here is that trout fish normally absorb greater amount of food from the lower sources of water and very less amount from the water surface.
So they are more challenging and need greater focus for this kind of activity.
Calm water trout fishing
Rivers and sea are total different concept than lakes when it comes term to fishing, or call trout fishing. Waders are used in the former cases, which is not much applicable for calm water as that of lakes and ponds. Normal float tube or canoe is used in these parts.
It is also imperative to point that trout are normally found near water transitional areas , so for successful trout fishing, those areas should be looked in with greater care.
Hooking and Releasing
Retrieving and hooking of trout fish is relatively very easy. In trout fishing, there is extra length of fly is used, and the intention is to tire the fish, so as the fly line or its extended length doesn’t break out.
In order to improve the fishing quality, releasing the fly is extremely important. Though on the bigger side, trout are very swift and delicate in nature, so they should be handled with utmost care and attention. With proper angling and downward movement by the fly, the trout stops struggling importantly though. Throughout the process, care must be equally taken to check whether trout is bleeding or not.
